Greetings from pandemonium at the studio!  It's been a perfectly sleepless week working around the clock preparing for tomorrow night's event at La Galleria.  We are so excited to launch our fundraising project and share the story of JACK with those who can bring it to life.  The night promises sweets and surprises as well as the unveiling of some new footage.

We are hoping to secure enough funds tomorrow night to bring THEY CALL ME JACK into production. Check back throughout the evening to the fundraising thermometer below to see how close we are getting to our goal!

Last-but certainly not least- big THANKS to all who have supported and contributed to the project thus far.  Check back to the blog and our indiegogo site [INSERT INDIE GOGO ADDRESS] to keep up with our movements as THEY CALL ME JACK starts rolling!

TREATMENT

TREATMENT

JACK is the story of a hermaphrodite writer working through the angst of a series of unrequited loves, from her pubescent beginnings in San Fransisco's era of freedom in the late nineties, to her adult life in New York City.
As the story progresses, we come to know more of JACK's physiological challenges and we experience her psychological unraveling as a self-aware intersex being with the evolution of varied and challenging relationships.
With the use of narrative voice and visual illusion, we visit definitive moments in JACK's past and future  which shape the course of her trajectory as a nomadic beat poet as they pertain to her relationship commitment issues.
This situational drama is slated to be executed with a high end cinematographic feel, from the point of view of the heroine, layered with texture from surrounding scenes and characters.
JACKS message serves to remind us all that what lies beneath a seemingly smooth surface is often much more deep and complicated than it appears.

One month later.

It's been a month since we left New York and we've gotten some great footage.
Our Thai connection Mook has been a great asset in Bangkok, unfortunately we have to leave this crazy city against out will and pass through Hong Kong on the way back home. Once in the States we will share a sneak peak of the footage so far. But for now, here's a picture of us and Mook.

Additional fundraising

Thank you so much to everyone who contributed so far. We have two weeks left of filming in South East Asia. The usual unforeseen occurances, such as broken equipment, trannie bribes and hired help on the road have limited us to an extremely tight budget and any additional funding will be greatly appreciated at this point. With your help we can ensure the success of JACK.

Thank You!

Vietnam

Arrived in Saigon, overwhelmed with new impressions. We're here to shoot the character of Rita Rosas played by Lauryn Garza.  A long day of shooting ended at a local family karaoke joint with some ice cold beers with a straw in em. The three of us and a couple of locals getting it on to When a Man Loves a Woman, Feliz Navidad and Some Vietnamese tunes.  Strange but lovely.

On the New York front IDA is thrilled to announce that Nina Burns has been cast in the role of
Slava Goldstein. We can't wait to start shooting scenes in New York come summer.

One week in...

One week into shooting and we've gotten great footage in Bangkok and Siem Reap featuring lady boys, some amazing orphans and locals.  Hopped an over night bus and we've arrived safely in Cambodia's capitol, Phnom Penh. Working hard, playing a little and always moving forward.

In the meantime we'll be in Vietnam in a few days and will keep you updated. Thanks for checking in!

First day of location scouting and talent hunting in Bangkok.

We arrived safe and well from a 20 plus hour flight from New York to Bangkok at 3am this morning. Today we went to Nonthaburi in search of the Dramatic Arts Institute with no major luck so tonight were off to Patpong Market to find our Ladyboy actress the ghetto way. Shooting starts tomorrow.

For anyone who would like to support the film while we're on the road, your help is tremendously appreciated,
and any denominations are welcomed. The co-producer and producer blocks are as follows.
$300 for co-producer.
$800 and above for producer credit with a 5% return on IDA's profit from final project.

TO CONTRIBUTE GO TO IDAS FUNDRAISING SITE IN COLLABORATION WITH BLACKBAUD AND PAYPAL. http://idasponsorship.bbnow.org/
